Wax Mannequin, Hachey the MouthPEACE and SP President Joey Balducchi perform at the Artswells Festival

Artswells Festival

Hey Folks,

There are a lot of festivals in Canada, but one that stands out for the artists on the SP Roster is Artswells, due to the fact that it is in a small town called Wells, BC, where the festival actually takes over the whole entire town, and the community embraces it, which is quite the experience to be a part of.

This festival is so magical, that many performers that regularly play the festival have been so inspired by this magical town, that they have bought houses in Wells, and most of the population in Wells, which is approximately 400, are musicians, artists and actors, which is quite an exciting rarity for a small town.

This year, along with over 100 other acts, SP artists Wax Mannequin, freelance artist Hachey the MouthPEACE, and SP President Joey Balducchi are all performing at this years festival, alongside other great artists, BidiniBand, Tanya Taqaq and Scott Cook, to name a few.

Wax Mannequin & The Donefors perform at the Brandon Folk Festival from July 25-27, 2014

Brandon Folk Festival Poster

Hey Folks,

One of the great things about the summer is the many options of festivals to go to all over the place, and this year, Wax Mannequin and The Donefors are playing the wonderful Brandon Folk Festival, 2 hours west of Winnipeg, MB.

This festival is a real treat to people of all ages, and this year, these 2 SP artists will be sharing the stage with the likes of Ben Caplan & the Casual Smokers, Martin Sexton, and Cold Specks, to name a few, so if in the area, don’t miss out on this great weekend of music and fun!!

Lindy performs at the 125th Icelandic Festival of Manitoba from Aug 1-4, 2014

Lindy Fest

Hey Folks,

Just north of Winnipeg is a little town called Gimli, MB, and in that town every year they put on a festival called the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba, otherwise known as Islendingadagurinn, and this is the 125 year anniversary that this festival has been going in, which is quite an amazing accomplishment.

This year, Lindy Vopnfjord is performing at the festival, and bringing his full band with him to rock the stage, and represent his Icelandic heritage for the weekend of Aug 1-4, 2014.

If in the area, I highly recommend going to this festival, which includes artists like Elliott Brood, The Bros Landreth and The Meligrove Band, to name a few.

Spherical Productions at Folk Music Ontario this weekend!!!

2013 Posters TOGETHER 2 web

Hello Folks,

Whenever it comes to music conferences, which has the potential of helping musical acts with opportunities throughout Canada and beyond, I always try to showcase the artists on the Spherical Productions roster, as much as I can. This year at Folk Music Ontario (formerly The OCFF), I secured 2 Private showcases, but this was before I knew who was available, and it turned out the majority of the SP acts were not available, with the exception of Kirby and Spookey Ruben, so instead of canceling the showcases, I came up with an idea.

As a big supporter of Hamilton artists, as well as festival manager at the Hamilton Music Awards, I got to thinking that I rarely see any Hamilton artists at this specific conference, so I decided to rearrange my focus and showcase artists from Hamilton (with a couple exceptions), and so I reached out to a bunch of great artists from Hamilton, and within a couple days, I am proud to say that there are now many great Hamilton artists going to be showcasing at Folk Music Ontario for your pleasure and mine.

If you are going to Folk Music Ontario this weekend, I highly recommend coming to the Spherical Productions showcase in Room 313 on Fri, Oct 18 and Sat, Oct 19, 2013 between 11:00pm and 3:00am, to check out these great artists, and I am not talking as an agent, since I do not represent the majority of these artists, I am recommending these artists as a fan.

Joey Balducchi, President

BIOGRAPHY:

Born into the Icelandic community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lindy
Vopnfjörd started his music career early. By four, he was singing
cautionary songs about nuclear war and traveling around with
his musician parents and extended family in a bus. The digital
release of his most recent album, his career seventh, called
Young Waverer was on February 26, 2013. Ambitiously recorded
via “Crowdfunding” and only available via iTunes or Lindy’s
website, it is a soaring landscape of stream of consciousness
stories about love and loss, alongside unique tales about his
upbringing on icy Lake Winnipeg.

Bulgarian born producer/composer/solo artist, close friend and
music collaborator Todor Kobakov sharpens the production pencil
and draws a definitive mark in the mind with the twelve tracks
(he also contributes piano). An impressive Canadian musical
collective also brings their talents to Young Waverer in
Luke Doucet who contributes guitar to a handfulf songs and
Thomas D’Arcy formerly of Small Sins and Major Maker who
played bass, as did other Major Maker-mates Stephen
Krecklo and Ian LeFeuvre (Kathleen Edwards, k-os) and John
Obercian (Sarah Harmer). Young Waverer was mixed by Grammy
nominated John O’Mahony (Metric, Coldplay, U2) at Electric Lady
Studios in New York City.

Since 2006, Lindy has been the lead singer and co-songwriter for
the indie rock band Major Maker. Major Maker took by force in the
summer of 2007 when two of their songs, ‘Rollercoaster’ and “Talk
To You”, aired in national television commercials. The “Rollercoaster”
single debuted at #57 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 Chart and #2
on iTunes Canada Rock Chart, while the video was added to national
video outlets Much Music, MuchMoreMusic and MTV Canada.

Following the success of Rollercoaster, Major Maker released the
People Carrier EP in Canada which hit # 2 on the highly influential
CBC Radio 3 top 30 Chart’.
